Indian mobile services provider Aircel has inked a collaboration agreement with ICICI Bank and Visa to offer a mobile banking service for its customers, reports PTI. Initially, the service will be available in the Chennai-Tirunelveli corridor in Tamil Nadu.
The service would later cover Tamil Nadu and country wide, Aircel Regional Business Head, Sankara Narayanan K told reporters.
It will provide services such as cash deposits, cash withdrawals and money transfers, among others, said Aircel head of mobile banking Geoff King after launching the service. After signing up for the service, a separate account will be created in the name of the customer at ICICI Bank. Even if the customer loses his mobile phone, the cash will be safe and can be accessed later after obtaining a new Sim card in his name.
